NEUKöLLNERIN

Berlin, 2010

Neuköllnerin Project includes photos taken in Neukölln, the Berlin Turkish area. The subjects are shop windows dummies. The aim of this project is to use these lifeless bodies to try and understand the role of Turkish women in the contemporary German society, as well as their self-perception living on the borderline between racial integration and nostalgia about their own native culture. The dummies seem to tell more intimate and secret parts of these women with less embarrassment.
