About

Laura Gianetti is an italian artist, researcher, photoreporter, graphic designer and art teacher.

She studied Natural Sciences at Pisa University and she graduated in Painting with a Masters in Photography from the Fine Art Academy in Rome in 2008 with the thesis “The heretical photography in the ’70s”. After the BFA, she moved to Berlin where she worked as visual artist and photoreporter for musical and artistic events for more than 8 years. She collaborated among others with Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Bpigs, Node Center for Curatorial Studies, CTM Festival, Grimmuseum, Factory Art, Month of Performance Art in Berlin, Sonic Acts Festival in Amsterdam, Spot U Art in Brussels and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde.

Her projects deal with photography, painting, drawing, video and installation often focusing the attention on the interaction existing between human social behaviour and nature. Taking advantage from innate primal rituals, she presents the possibility of “re-wilding the human“, of unbecoming from societal expectations, starting from our relationship to the natural world to our own corporeal existence.

Since the early 2000s she has realized art projects collected in private collections and published in books, CDs, vinyl records, music videos, magazine and in major newspapers including The New York Times, ArtForum, Domus, La Repubblica and Il Corriere della sera. She showed in galleries and museums like among others Grimmuseum in Berlin, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the Museo Hendrik C. Andersen (Galleria Nazionale D’Arte Moderna), Complesso Monumentale Sant’Andrea al Quirinale in Rome, Galleria d’Arte Moderna alle Ciminiere in Catania (Premio Nazionale delle Arti) and the Ancienne Quincaillerie van AA in Brussels, where she was awarded with the grant as the Best Artist under 35 years.

Laura Gianetti was born in Livorno in 1980. She currently lives and works between Livorno and Rome where her artist studios are based, working in addiction in the public school as Art teacher and as Graphic Designer and Photoreporter for Contemporary Art Galleries such as the Galleria Mario Iannelli in Rome.
